| We are all looking forward to the Island’s 50th Anniversary Parade, and we hope you, your friends and family will be there to cheer on the best little parade in America! But, this year we have an issue that everyone should know before coming onto our island. Bear Cut Bridge will only have one lane open for traffic entering the island. Please advise your off island friends to allow additional time for the journey. Thank you and have a happy and safe holiday. |

The Key Biscayne Fourth of July Parade is celebrating its 50th anniversary! The best little parade in America will start at 11:00 am on Saturday with a flyover by four F-16s from the Homestead Air Reserve Base. Although it begins at the corner of Crandon and Harbor, one of the best places for viewing is on the Village Green opposite the judges’ stand. Immediately after the parade, the Kiwanis hold their annual All American Picnic with beverages and a barbecue on the Village Green, complete with entertainment.
At 9:00 p.m., fireworks will begin from a barge anchored off the Key Biscayne Beach Club. If you are not within hearing distance of the loudspeakers at the Beach Club, grab a radio and tune into WDNA 88.9 FM radio to hear a synchronized broadcast of music for the 28 minutes of spectacular fireworks.

What’s the Buzz? It’s the bugs! Call the Bug Busters at Miami Dade’s 311 info hotline to shoosh out the Skeeters!!! Village officials are urging residents to help take the sting out of mosquito season by calling Miami-Dade County’s 311 line and requesting additional spray missions. Public Works Armando Nunez states: the most effective [way to get the County to spray] is the caller request. It we get 400, 500 residents calling that number, we’ll get a spray a lot faster than even us talking directly to the [Miami-Dade Public Works] Director.” |
