Friday, October 23, 2009, 6:30 p.m. Around the Americas: An evening presentation by the crew of the s/v Ocean Watch in the Rosenstiel School Auditorium. The University of Miami Rosenstiel School invites you to join the crew of the sailing vessel Ocean Watch to learn about their expedition through the Northwest Passage this summer, the first leg of a 13-month, 24,000-mile educational and scientific expedition called Around the Americas. The expedition will make 31 stopovers in 12 countries, spreading a strong environmental message designed to draw attention to the health of the world’s oceans and the impact of global climate change on local environments and ecosystems. The Key Biscayne Athletic Club has been re-mission as a fundraiser to provide scholarships to need-based families in Key Biscayne, bring volunteers into Key Biscayne youth sports programs, provide coaching and safety-base training for these volunteers increase the Key Biscayne youth sports brand outside of Key Biscayne and bring new sports related capital equipment to Key Biscayne youth sports. The new KBAC, or what is called KBAC 2.0, is completely funded by business and individual donations and in the future grant programs directly through the KBAC and recently through the Key Biscayne Community Foundation.
